TUMBLING

Styles of Tumbling

Standing Tumbling

The standing tumbling is when the athlete performs tumbling skill without speed at the beginning. The athlete starts without mouving and gain speed while doing mouvements.

Running Tumbling

The running tumbling is when the athlete performs tumbling skill with speed at the beginning. The athlete usually runs before he/she gets into his/her mouvements.

Different Tumbling mouvements (Note that those skills are mixed together to make what we call a tumbling pass)

  • Cartwheel: The athlete puts his hands on the ground to support his weight while doing a lateral rotation by passing his legs above the head and then landing one foot at a time.

  • Round Off: Same as the cartwheel except that the athlete land on both feet instead of one foot at a time.

  • Front Walkover : The athlete does a handstand, then fall into a bridge one leg at a time and finally stands up.

  • Back Walkover : The athlete fall into a bridge from behind, then kick the right or left leg and push the ground with the other one and land one foot at a time.

  • Front Handspring : The athlete runs then puts his hands on the ground to make a kind of handstand, then he push himself from the ground making a bridge positiob while being in the air and landing on both feet.

  • Back Handspring : The athlete jumps from behind making a bridge position to land on his hands, then the legs go above his body to land on the ground at the same time.

  • Whip : The athlete will do a layout with his body more arch, then pulls his leg fast to whip them above his body while being in the air and then land on both feet.

  • Front Tuck : The athlete jumps in the air, swing his arms to grab his legs and make a front tuck.

  • Back Tuck : The athlete jumps in the air making an arch positon then pull his legs to turn backward and make a backtuck.

  • Layout : Same as the back tuck but the legs are straight and the hands next to the body.

  • Arabian : The athlete jumps in the air makes a 180 then grab his legs to do a front tuck quick after he did the half turn.

  • Full : The athletes does a 360 while doing a layout. The athlete first start by doing a layout and then once he will almost be upside down, he will drop his left arm making a circle and finish with the hand on the left side of the chest, then he does the same thing with the right arm to have both arms crossed on the left side of the chest. (You may drop the right arm first depending on which way you spin)

  • Double Full : Same thing as the full but the athlete does a 720 instead of a 360.
